Psalm

Not now — I just got here, and I’m not quite

ready, not yet, my house is still a mess

and I’m expecting company, they might

be here any minute — my friends, my guests

are coming! I’ve finally found my people,

I’m treating them right — wine for all my friends!

Wine and a good word and untroubled sleep

for all my friends! I’m not a fool who spends

down his principal, depletes his reserves,

burns all his bridges, puts himself above

the others. I’ve been eating right! My nerves

are finally under control and love

is in sight. I’ve got so much more to give,

business to finish. I’m making my peace

with the past. I have so much more to live

for. My ministry. Not now. Not yet. Please.
